Healthy Protein Brownies Recipe

If you are like me, you are always looking for a sweet, healthy dessert alternative that keeps you a little more dialled into your nutrition plan. Lucky for you, I have found a great sweet treat, that will keep your taste buds happy and ensure that you are still on track for your fitness goals! Add this recipe to your "must try" list!


Protein Packed Brownies with 18g per serving!

Total Time: 25 Minutes

Yield: 9 Brownies


Ingredients:

- 1 cup of mashed banana (ripe preferred)

- 2/3 cup nut butter of choice (personally use peanut butter for a little extra sweetness)

- 1/3 cup cocoa powder

- 1-2 scoops protein powder (Bodylogix Natural Whey - Decadent Chocolate)

- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract

- 1/4 tsp salt

- 1/4 cup pure maple syrup (or honey)

- Optional mini chocolate chips (dark chocolate)


Instructions:

- Preheat oven to 325

- Line 8x8 pan with parchment paper

- Warm nut butter until it is stir-able

- Combine all listed ingredients into a bowl, stir until completely smooth, and spread into prepared pan

- Bake on the centre rack for 20-25 minutes (they will be undercooked when you take them out)

- Apply Healthy Chocolate Frosting (see below) and cut

- Let them cool, and cover with a paper towel

- Can place in the fridge overnight to allow them to firm up and become much sweeter

- Once cut, the brownies can be stored in the fridge for 2-3 days or in the freezer for up to a month


Healthy Chocolate Frosting:

- Yields 1/2 cup

Ingredients:

- 1/4 cup peanut butter

- 5 tsp pure maple syrup

- 2 tbsp cocoa powder

- 5 tsp Almond Milk

- 3/4 tsp pure vanilla extract


Instructions:

- Blend or whisk all the ingredients and apply to Brownies once out of oven
